For those ultimately seeking to adopt but wanting a short period to meet the dog arriving from Mexico, we offer a foster to adopt programme. In this scenario you would welcome the dog upon arrival from Mexico and spend up to 2 weeks with the animal before making a decision to adopt. In this window, we would pause advertising the pet. If after 2 weeks you decide this pet isn’t the best fit, you agree to continue to foster the animal while we resume advertising to find a suitable placement. This is typically offered for animals arriving from Mexico who you may not otherwise meet ahead of time.

We are always looking to grow our foster network to welcome dogs to Canada while we look for a home for them. Dogs in foster have an exponentially faster adoption rate. We do provide information and support to our foster homes, including loaned equipment as needed. If you’d like to apply to foster, here is a link to our application:
